Alan Cotton proves
himself a world-class guitarist and musician with his
own unique style of hard rock. His
simple,
uncluttered technique speaks more of soul and
feel than flamboyance and speed.
Born and raised in
Birmingham, Alabama, Alan moved to Texas in his teens,
where he developed the bluesy style inherent to his hard
rock sound. Alan then moved to Los Angeles. In his first
years there, he established himself on the music scene,
being hired by Maestro Alex Gregory to tour in support
of the album Paganini's Last Stand, which also featured
vocalist Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen), Drummer Doane
Perry (Jethro Tull) and Bassist Matt Bissonette (David
Lee Roth). At the same time, he went to work with
producer Pat Leonard as a production assistant on albums
for Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart and 3rd Matinee.
Relocating to New
York, Alan began recording and touring with BTT,
Nostradamus and Souls of Ten. He also began doing
extensive session work. Past sessions include work for
Miller Genuine Draft, Fox Sports Net, Hanna Barbera, and
Discovery Channel.
Well constructed songs
and top notch musicianship have always been constants in
Alan's previous work and continue in the Cotton
Soeterboek Band. The band features a refreshing stripped
down blues-rock sound, cutting against the grain of
polished pop that's now in vogue. So far, Alan's musical
and career instincts have been right on target, and with
the Cotton Soeterboek Band, he anticipates greater
things to come.
